Brian Tate

Drum Instructor in Commercial Music

Brian V. Tate has been performing and teaching drums and percussion for over 25 years. Well-versed in a number of musical styles, Brian is equally at home performing rock, R&B, funk, country, and jazz. His recording credits include drum tracks for two complete albums of original rock, session work for multiple independent artists, and jingles for radio and television. In 2008 he joined the faculty of the South Plains College Creative Arts Department, teaching drum set and commercial music ensembles. Brian is currently the drummer for the classic rock band Groundfloor, performing regularly around Lubbock and West Texas. He is an artist/educator endorser for Paiste cymbals, Evans drumheads, and Promark drumsticks. Brian earned his Bachelor of Music degree in Performance from Texas Tech University. He resides in Lubbock with his wife and their five boys.
