Devin Collins Instructor of Music
Devin Collins is an all-round musician with professional experience as a pianist, vocalist, guitarist, bassist, drummer, trumpeter, tubist, composer, arranger, bandleader, electronic music producer, and educator.
From small home concerts to nationally renowned jazz clubs and orchestral concert halls, Collins has contributed his talents as an instrumentalist and vocalist. His award-winning compositions have been performed across the United States and Europe, including “Omnifunk” for the Houston-based group Omnibrass, and “A Hard Pill to Swallow,” commissioned by the New-York based PROJECT Trio.
Collins is a prolific pianist. As a jazz musician, he has performed in solo, combo, and big band settings with local and national touring artists. During his time with Caldwell Entertainment, he performed up to 10 shows a month, including the main stage at 4th on Broadway, the state’s largest free independence day festival. In addition, he performed for over seven years as a dueling piano player, which required him to learn thousands of songs on multiple instruments and perform them for thousands of patrons per week.
His electronic music production style is an amalgamation of his musical journey, reflected in the wide range of styles and soundscapes. Working primarily in Ableton Live, Collins has produced electronica, house, drum and bass, techno, rock, pop, and hip-hop. He releases these productions under the alias Phaeton Argent.
